Akshaya Patra Phoenix Chapter hosted a joyful and meaningful Rakhi Workshop, led by Youth Ambassadors Eesha and Yesha, with the support of Event Coordinators Jyothi Vaddhireddy and Haasini Dasari.
The workshop brought children and families together to celebrate the beautiful spirit of Raksha Bandhan, a festival honoring the bond of love, care, and protection between siblings. Participants had the opportunity to create their own colorful, handmade rakhis and heartfelt greeting cards, adding a personal touch to this special celebration.
Beyond the creativity and fun, the event carried a deeper purpose. The handmade rakhis and cards helped raise awareness and support for The Akshaya Patra Foundation, whose mission is to combat child hunger and provide nutritious meals to children across India. Just $20 can provide a child with nutritious meals for an entire school year - a small contribution that can make a lasting difference in a child’s future. Every contribution made through the workshop helped support this important cause.
A heartfelt thank you to Eesha and Yesha for their enthusiastic leadership, and to Jyothi Vaddhireddy and Haasini Dasari for their thoughtful coordination and dedication. Their efforts made the workshop a wonderful blend of tradition, creativity, community service, and compassion.
It was truly inspiring to see young hearts come together to celebrate Rakhi while making a difference in the lives of children in need. Together, we made rakhis, shared love, and helped nourish brighter futures.
